The Tambopata National Reserve is a protected natural area of Peru, is located in the department of Madre de Dios, extends in the districts of Tambopata and Inambari. This reserve has a great index of biological diversity of the world.

Itinerary

Day 1:Tambopata Amazon Mount - Monkey Island

Reception at the airport or land terminal and transfer to the office of Monte Amazonico for the corresponding registrations.

Transfer to the captaincy port where we will take the boat for an hour, to our lodge – Welcome meeting, with a refreshing juice based on fruits from our region. Installation in our respective rooms.

After a restful rest, you will have as introduction a walk for two hours in the dense tropical forest, guided by an expert local guide, who will take you by our trails and you will be able to appreciate variety of trees that can have more than five hundred years, as well as, you will be able to observe some species of wild animals like: toucans, oropendolas, macaws, monkeys, snakes, butterflies, etc. You will have the opportunity to live the magic of our Amazon jungle that is within the TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE with 278,000 hectares protected.

After lunch, we will visit the “monkey island”, located in front of our Lodge crossing the Madre de Dios River where we will find different species such as the family of capuchin monkeys and coto monkeys – monkey friar who lives on the island, return to the Lodge.

At night we will go in search of white caimans that are generally found on sandbanks, in the Madre de Dios river for which it will be necessary to carry a flashlight. Also, we will be able to see the capybara, the largest rodent in the world that can weigh up to 60 kilos, return to the lodge, dinner and rest.

Day 2: Monkey Island - Tambopata National Reserve

fter breakfast we will walk 3 km in the middle of the dense tropical jungle and head towards Lake Sandoval (piranha habitat) one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve. We will paddle in a boat where we will appreciate a great variety of birds and different species such as: shansho, cormorant, jacanas, puma garza, gallinazos, cotomono, monkey fraile, machín negro, pichicos and sloths. Perhaps we will have an encounter with the family of giant otter (almost two meters long) that is in danger of extinction, it is also possible to see caimans over 4 meters long, return to the Lodge to enjoy the typical lunch.

At night we will have a walk where we can appreciate the diversity of species of insects, amphibians, reptiles and other nocturnal animals. Dinner and rest.

Day 3:Tambopata National Reserve - Sandoval Lake

5:30 a.m. in the morning we will make a small walk by the Canopy walk-way, on the 30 meters of height, that will allow us to appreciate the nature from the highest possible, also we will have a panoramic view of the Madre de Dios River. From the platforms we will observe different species of birds, such as toucans, macaws, tangaras and oropendolas. It will be a wonderful experience.

After breakfast we prepare for a challenge activity on the trees at more than 30 meters high, for this activity we will have an instructor guide who will give us a talk on how to use the safety harness for the Zip-line, feeling the adrenaline when sliding through the trees, return to the Lodge. Lunch and rest. In the afternoon the challenge is to cross the Madre de Dios river in a kayak, on the way we will be able to appreciate the fascinating sunset. Then we will be able to carry out an artisan fishing in the Madre de Dios river, with a little patience we will see some species of fish like catfish, popcorn among others.

Day 4:Sandoval Lake - Parrot Clay Lick

Very early in the morning we will take the boat to visit the parrot clay lick, a wall of earth (clay) on one side of the Madre de Dios River, where the different species come down to eat this special and indispensable clay necessary for their metabolism. Return and breakfast.

After lunch we will visit a family of natives of the zone, they will make us participate of their daily activities, learning of their customs that have been maintained through the time. Dinner and rest.

Day 5:Parrot Clay Lick, Canopy walk-way - Madre de Dios River

Breakfast and return to the city, transfer to the airport and / or bus station.
