Description
Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain or Mountain of Seven Colors, is a beautiful and challenging hike ideal for adventurous travelers, offering unforgettable memories of the area and its surroundings. This route is truly unique, showcasing a colorful mountain range and small communities of Quechua-speaking descendants. Includes all-you-can-eat buffet both for breakfast and lunch!
Itinerary
We will pick you up from your hotel between 4:30 am – 5:30 am and head south through the town of Urco to the Checacupe District (2 hours by bus) and then follow the path to Pitumarca where weāll have a buffet breakfast.
Then we continue along the road through small villages and valleys until we arrive at the community of Hanchipata ā Quesiuno (1 hour and 20 minutes by bus), the ideal starting point to walk the route. We will see incredible mountains such as Ausangate, beautiful blue lagoons, and many other natural sites.
The walk to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) will last around 1 hour. At the peak we will savour the view for an hour or two taking photos of the beautiful scenery before descending the path and returning to our bus.
We will go back to Pitumarca to have a delicious buffet lunch and then weāll be on our way back to Cusco.
