We begin with hotel pickup at 7:30 am heading to Tambomachay, situated at 3700 m (12,139 ft). We then hike uphill for about 3 hours to enjoy a majestic view over a series of valleys. Continuing on small trails with numerous rest stops, we will arrive around 2 pm at Lake Qoricocha with its crystal-clear waters. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of mind-blowing lakes.
There will be ample time to relax, rest, and rejuvenate with a delicious lunch prepared by a chef at the lodge. In the afternoon, we’ll prepare for camping, with dinner ready around 7 pm. Vegetarian options are available.
Early in the morning, around 6:30 am, we have breakfast and prepare to continue along the trail, ascending for around 4 hours with stops for lunch and rest, until we reach the awe-inspiring Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo. Recently restored by archaeologists, this site is located at 3,450 m (11,318 ft). Along the way, we pass through a small canyon that is part of the Inca Trail. From this point, we have clear views of mountains such as Chicon, Pitusiray, Sawasiray, Waccaywilca, and Veronica.
Afterwards, we will begin the descent hike to Lamay, which takes about 2 hours with stops. Here, our return transportation to Cusco will be waiting for us.
The tour includes a pre-tour briefing, hotel pickup, and transportation to Tambomachay. You’ll also enjoy 1 breakfast, 2 lunches, and 1 dinner (with vegetarian options available), the entrance ticket to Huchuy Qosqo, and the assistance of a professional bilingual guide, chef, and support staff. Additionally, you’ll spend 1 night camping in comfortable tents with dining and kitchen facilities.
The package does not include personal care items, breakfast on the first day, walking poles, or a sleeping bag. However, you can rent the sleeping bag and poles from us if needed — please request this in advance.
This trek is considered of moderate difficulty. It involves hiking for several hours each day through mountainous terrain, with ascents and descents. Previous trekking experience is not required, but good physical condition is recommended.
The maximum altitude reached is around 4,200 meters (13,780 ft) near Qoricocha Lake, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of mountains such as Chicon, Pitusiray, Sawasiray, Waccaywilca, and Veronica.
