Itinerary
We will pick you up from your hotel at around 7.30 am with a private vehicle. On route, we pass Saqsaywaman and arrive after half an hour to Tambomachay, which is located 3700 meters above sea level, in the hills above Cusco. Our trek begins here. We will walk uphill for about 3 hours until we reach a path of about 4300 meters above sea level. You will be able to enjoy a majestic view over a series of valleys. We will continue walking along little trails with plenty of rest stops. At around 2pm we will arrive at Lake Qoricocha with its clear waters. On the way, you will be rewarded with a very impressive view of three lakes: Qoricocha, Puray and their little lake-kid in the middle. We will have enough time to relax, rest and recover with a delicious lunch prepared by a cook in the refuge. In the afternoon, we will get ready for camping, and around 7:00pm dinner will be ready. Vegetarian options are available.
Early in the morning, around 6.30 am, we will have breakfast and get ready to continue along the trail, ascending for approx. 4 hours with some stops for lunch and rest until we reach the Inca site of Huchuy Qosco, recently restored by archaeologists, located at 3,450 m. On the way there we pass through a small Canyon, which is a part of the Inca trail. From this point, we will have a clear view of many beautiful mountains such as Chicon, Pitusiray, Sawasiray, Waccaywilca and Veronica. Then, we start our walk down to Lamay, about 2 hours with stops. Here our transport awaits us to go back to Cusco for about 1 hour and 15 min.
