Conde Travel is the creator and pioneer of the Inca Jungle Route to Machu Picchu. Founded by Luis Conde and Ruth Cusihuaman, we have been developing and operating this route for more than 20 years. Our original video archive, dating back more than 12 years, provides a visual record of our early Inca Jungle expeditions.
FOUNDERS
Ruth and Luis, both tourism students at the time, met while pursuing their dreams. In 2005, while completing their internships, they discovered a unique opportunity: to start their own tourism company and share their history and traditions with the world.
Focused on creating a company that truly provides quality service, Luis and Ruth always worked as a team. Luis, enthusiastic and proactive, had held various roles in the tourism sector, working as a muleteer, kitchen assistant, assistant guide, and tour guide, becoming an expert explorer of new trekking routes. Ruth, determined and organized, focused on managing operations, communicating and coordinating with each community, tour guide, chef, and staff member involved in each tour.
Together, they turned each new route they explored into a genuine trekking adventure that was exciting and safe. Ruth and Luis built Conde Travel through hard work, always looking to the future despite the difficulties.
From the beginning, one of their first challenges was to innovate and create new experiences on routes that few travelers knew about. Through their exploration of alternative routes to Machu Picchu, Luis Conde and Ruth Cusihuaman, founders of Conde Travel, created and pioneered the Inca Jungle Route, developing an adventure experience that combined cycling, rafting, trekking, local communities, and the journey to Machu Picchu.
The Inca Jungle Experience or Inca Jungle Trek became a unique way for travelers to discover the authentic essence of Peru on the road to Machu Picchu. However, being pioneers on this route was not an easy task.
From the beginning, Luis and Ruth worked consistently with various communities located along the trekking route with the goal of promoting tourism and development. They fostered tourism development in towns like Santa Teresa and Santa Maria and also promoted activities such as cycling, rafting, and ziplining.
These core activities became an important part of the experience and eventually inspired the spirit behind our brand: Conde Travel — Biking, Rafting, Trekking. The slogan reflects the adventure that has been at the heart of our Inca Jungle experience from the beginning.
After years of perseverance and effort, Conde Travel established itself as a leading operator of the Inca Jungle Route, a position it has maintained to this day. Over time, Conde Travel also pioneered routes like Hydroelectric by car, promoting and guaranteeing a safe, high-quality service designed for adventure-seeking explorers.
More than 12 years ago, Conde Travel was already exploring and operating the Inca Jungle Route to Machu Picchu. Our original video archive documents these early Inca Jungle expeditions, preserving a part of the history of the route and our journey as its creators and pioneers.
