Itinerary
We will depart from Cusco and continue towards Abra Málaga (4,350 m / 14,160 ft), the starting point for our cycling activity. There, we will receive a brief explanation and gather the necessary equipment for the 3-hour downhill bike ride covering 55 km (34 miles). We will arrive at the town of Santa María (1,200 m / 3937 ft), where we will have lunch before enjoying rafting on the Vilcanota River with class II and III+ rapids in the afternoon. For this activity, we will provide helmets, windbreakers, and category V life jackets. Your first night will be spent in an eco lodge.
After breakfast, we embark on a beautiful 4-hour hike along an old Inca path. We will cross through the high forest where we can appreciate the abundance of flora and fauna. In this area, it’s possible to see various types of plants, orchids, birds, and other wild animals—a biodiversity paradise in the Inca jungle.
The Cocalmayo hot springs will be our reward, where we relax and enjoy the medicinal waters before heading to the hotel.
After breakfast, we head to the base where we will start the ziplining. Here, we will also cross a hanging bridge and do some light climbing. After this activity, the bus will take us to Hidroeléctrica for lunch, before we continue walking for another 3 hours to Aguas Calientes. This night, we will have a more comfortable stay at a cozy hostel.
After breakfast, we head towards the citadel of Machu Picchu where we will have a guided tour for about 2 hours. Then, there will be some free time to explore the citadel on your own before descending by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes to board the train back to Ollantaytambo and then to Cusco.
Note: If you wish to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you must reserve at least three months in advance due to limited availability. This activity is optional (US $70.00).
