Itinerary
We depart from Cusco at 6 am in a private bus, picking you up from your hotel. We travel through the Sacred Valley to the Lares Hot Springs, where we immerse ourselves in the warm waters and enjoy an excellent lunch. Afterwards, we begin a two-hour hike to our campsite in Wacawasi, where we also have our dinner.
After breakfast, we visit a traditional Alpaca weaving activity. Then ascend to Condor Pass (4,100 m / 13,451 ft), where we enjoy the incredible views of Mount Veronica at 5,750 m (18,865 ft). Afterward, we continue our hike to Epsaycocha Lake, where we’ll have lunch. Later, we walk to Yanahuara where we set up camp and have dinner.
After breakfast, we will take a bus to Ollantaytambo and board the Expedition Train to KM 104 at 6:10 am. The guide will lead you on foot to the archaeological remains of Chachabamba where the trek begins. Along the way, we pass by a small and refreshing waterfall en route to the Wiñay Wayna ruins, where impressive terraces showcase Andean engineering skills.
After lunch, we continue the hike to Inti Punku (Sun Gate), from where we have our first panoramic view of Machu Picchu, perched beautifully on the hillside. From here, we take a bus to Aguas Calientes where we spend the night and prepare for the following day at Machu Picchu.
After breakfast, we take a bus to the Machu Picchu citadel for a guided tour of the different sectors for about 2 hours. You’ll have some free time to explore the citadel before descending by bus to Aguas Calientes to catch the return train to Ollantaytambo and then to Cusco.
