Itinerary
Upon arrival at the airport or land terminal, you’ll be greeted and transferred to Monte AmazĆ³nico Lodge for check-in. Then, you’ll head to the captaincy port for a one-hour boat ride to the lodge. Once there, enjoy a welcome meeting with a refreshing local fruit juice before settling into your room.
After a good night’s sleep, start your adventure with a two-hour walk through the tropical forest. An expert local guide will lead you along our trails, where you’ll see ancient trees that are over 500 years old and spot wildlife such as toucans, macaws, monkeys, and butterflies. You will have the opportunity to live the magic of our Amazon jungle that is within the TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE with 278,000 hectares protected.
After lunch, weāll head to āMonkey Island,ā just across the Madre de Dios River from our lodge. There, we might spot various species, including a family of capuchin monkeys. Afterward, weāll return to the lodge.
In the evening, weāll search for white caimans on sandbanks in the river, so donāt forget your flashlight. We might also see capybaras, the largest rodents in the world, weighing up to 60 kilos. Weāll then head back to the lodge for dinner and some rest.
After breakfast we will walk 3 km in the middle of the dense tropical jungle and head towards Lake Sandoval (inhabited by piranhas) one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve and we will paddle where we will appreciate a great variety of birds and monkeys of different species: shansho, cormorant, jacanas, puma garza, gallinazos, cotomono, monkey friar, black male, pichicos and sloths. Perhaps we will have an encounter with the giant otter family (almost two meters long) which is in danger of extinction and the largest caimans recorded more than 4 meters long, return to the Lodge to enjoy the typical lunch.
In the afternoon we will return to the city, transfer to the bus station.
