The 2-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is the ideal option for those who wish to experience this historic route in a shorter time. On the first day, you will enjoy breathtaking scenery as you hike the trail, and the following day, you will explore the majestic Machu Picchu, one of the wonders of the world. Itinerary
2 days of history and adventure
DAY 1: Cusco ā Chachabamba ā WiƱaywayna ā Aguas Calientes
Hotel pickup to the train station. Train ride (~1.5 hrs) to kilometer 104, where we will begin our hike to the archaeological site of Chachabamba. From there, we will continue hiking to the archaeological site of WiƱayhuayna, where we will enjoy lunch before continuing our hike to Inti Punku (Sun Gate).
Here, we will have our first view of Machu Picchu before heading to the entrance control of the Machu Picchu citadel, where the bus will take us down to Aguas Calientes. We will spend the night here, have dinner, and prepare for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.
DAY 2: Machu Picchu ā Aguas Calientes ā Ollantaytambo ā Cusco
After breakfast ~5 am, we will board the bus to the Machu Picchu citadel, where we will have a guided tour of the different areas for about 2 hours, followed by a brief time to enjoy the citadel before descending by bus to Aguas Calientes to board the train back to Ollantaytambo and then to Cusco.
Note: If you wish to visit Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you must book at least three months in advance due to limited availability. This activity is optional (US $70.00).
