The Classic Inca Trail (Route 01 – Piskacucho KM 82) is the original 4-day trek to Machu Picchu and the most requested route for 2026. Only a limited number of government-issued permits are available per day.
This route begins at KM 82 and follows the full ancient Inca Trail network, crossing mountain passes, cloud forests, and archaeological sites before arriving at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate (Inti Punku).
Permit Information
Availability in the calendar shows the remaining spaces for each departure date. Once a date is sold out, permits cannot be reopened or transferred.

Route 05 corresponds to the Short Inca Trail (2 Days), designed for travelers with limited time who still want to hike part of the original Inca Trail and enter Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate.
This route starts at KM 104 and includes the impressive archaeological site of Wiñay Wayna before reaching Machu Picchu.

Although this route has more availability than the Classic 4-Day trek, permits still sell out quickly during peak season.
