Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain or the Mountain of Seven Colors, is a beautiful and challenging hike ideal for adventurous travelers, offering unforgettable memories of the area and its surroundings. This route is truly unique, showcasing a colorful mountain range and small communities of Quechua-speaking descendants. Includes all-you-can-eat buffet both for breakfast and lunch!
Itinerary
We’ll pick you up from your hotel between 4:30 and 5:30 in the morning, then start our journey south through the town of Urco to the Checacupe District, which is about a two-hour bus ride. From there, we’ll continue on to Pitumarca, where you can enjoy a buffet breakfast.
We’ll travel through charming villages and picturesque valleys, arriving at the Hanchipata-Quesiuno community after about an hour and 20 minutes by bus. This is the perfect spot to begin our trek. Along the way, we’ll be surrounded by breathtaking scenery, including the majestic Ausangate Mountain, stunning blue lagoons, and other incredible natural sights.
The hike to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) takes about an hour. Once we reach the peak, we’ll spend one to two hours soaking in the stunning views and capturing the scenery in photos before heading back down to the bus.
We’ll head back to Pitumarca for a delicious buffet lunch before making our way back to Cusco.
