Salkantay & Inca Trail 5 Days

Early in the morning, we’ll pick you up from your hotel. On the way, we’ll enjoy breakfast in Mollepata before continuing to Soraypampa (3,900 m / 12,795 ft), the starting point of our hike. There, we’ll meet our horsemen and horses, who will be responsible for carrying all the camping equipment.

We’ll begin our hike toward Humantay Lagoon (4,200 m / 13,779 ft), a stunning turquoise lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. After enjoying the scenery and taking photos, we’ll return to Soraypampa, where our chef will prepare a delicious lunch.

In the afternoon, we’ll continue to our base camp in Salkantaypampa, from where we can admire the breathtaking views of Mount Salkantay. We’ll end the day with a warm snack and a dinner prepared by our team before resting under the starry Andean sky.

We start the day with a cup of coca tea and breakfast overlooking the mountains. Then, we begin a three-hour hike to reach the Salkantay Pass (4,600 m / 15,092 ft), the highest point of the trek.

From there, we descend to Wayracmachay, where we’ll enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, we continue toward the high jungle, where the scenery changes and large trees, small streams, and orchids begin to appear.

We end the day at our second campsite, surrounded by a warmer and more pleasant climate, perfect for resting.

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before starting a three-hour hike through the cloud forest, surrounded by rivers, waterfalls, and lush vegetation.

The trail continues downhill to the Hydroelectric Station, where we’ll have lunch. Afterward, we’ll walk for about another three hours until we reach Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).

Tonight, we’ll stay at a hotel to rest and prepare for the visit to Machu Picchu the following day.

Upon reaching Km 104, we’ll begin our hike toward the archaeological site of Chachabamba, where our guide will explain the historical importance of the area. From there, we’ll continue to the ruins of Wiñay Huayna, one of the most impressive sites along the Inca Trail, where we’ll stop to enjoy lunch.

We’ll then continue walking until we reach Inti Punku (the Sun Gate), from where we’ll have our first panoramic view of Machu Picchu. Afterward, we’ll descend to the entrance checkpoint of the citadel to take the bus down to Aguas Calientes.

In the evening, we’ll stay at a hotel, have dinner, and prepare for the long-awaited visit to Machu Picchu the following day.

After breakfast, we’ll take the bus to the Machu Picchu citadel for a guided tour of approximately two hours through the main archaeological sectors.

You’ll then have free time to enjoy the site before taking the bus down to Aguas Calientes and boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, we’ll continue by private transport to Cusco, where the tour concludes.

Note: If you wish to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you must book at least three months in advance. This activity is optional and has an additional cost of US$ 70.00 per person.
